Suspended Tamil Nadu special DGP (Law and Order) Rajesh Das who was given three years jail term on charges of sexually harassing a Woman Sp , given a 30 days bail by the Villupuram chief judicial magistrate Court on Friday afternoon .
It is to be noted , earlier on Friday morning (July 16th) Rajesh Das was granted three years imprisonment along with a fine of 20,500 rs in total .
The incident took place in February 2021 , while Rajesh Das who was appointed as the Special Director General Of Police, allegedly misbehaved with a woman superintend of police , while the accused and the victim were teamed up and were in-charge of security arrangement for former chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami for an election campaign .
According to the case proceeding on February 21st night the woman officer who was returning back with the suspended Special DGP Rajesh Das in his car at Trichy – Chennai highways , after completing the VIP escort duty in kongu region was sexually harassed by him .

The woman officer rushed out of the car and had requested IPS officer Ziaul Haque to drop her at Chennai .
The then Chengalpet SP D Kannan and a team policemen intercepted the lady SP’s car at Chengalpet and asked her to meet Rajesh Das before returning to her quarters .
On February 22nd afternoon the victim woman officer managed to lodge a complaint with the then DGP JK Tripathy . The case further proceeding which was being held at Villupuram chief judicial magistrate court .
On Friday Magistrate M Pushparani found Rajesh Das guilty under section 352 A , Tamil Nadu Prevention of Women Harassment Act and 345 (1) sentenced three years imprisonment and imposed a fine of 20500 rs under all three section . The court also imposed a fine of 500 rs to former Chengalpet SP D Kannan for finding him guilty under section 341 for intercepting the woman officer car .
However Rajesh Das who pleaded the court that he is innocent and to grant him a bail to prove the same was given a 30 days bail by magistrate M Pushparani , which will enable him to challenge his conviction at a higher court .
